Terms & Conditions of Service Agreement: Please Read

In order to hire Debbie Hunt Celebrant for your special day, every client should be familiar with the following terms & conditions & the booking process.

Debbie Hunt Celebrant Booking Process:

After discussions/meeting/phone calls with my couples I will email my Commitment Letter confirming the date & time of your ceremony, venue location and a  full breakdown of the costs including the travel fee.  The Terms & Conditions of Service Agreement will need to be signed & dated, then emailed back to me with confirmation of the 50% deposit paid to secure your special day. Until this is actioned your date is not confirmed.

The Travel Fee:

A travel fee will be charged to any venue/private home from my home office in Ohauiti, Tauranga for a rehearsal and also on your ceremony day @ $1.20 per km return trip. This will be stated on your invoice.

Payment Terms:

I try to make booking Debbie Hunt Celebrant as easy as possible so I offer Bank Transfer option.

A minimum deposit, of 50% of the total fee is required to confirm your booking and the balance is payable one week prior to your wedding date. (including the travel fee if applicable) An invoice will be sent to you by email for the total amount, including travel if applicable.  A receipt via email is also issued when I receive any payments so you can keep track of how much you have paid for your records.

*Please note: A surcharge of 15% is payable on any public holidays on top of the total fee.

Note: In the unlikely event of my unavailability to perform your ceremony on the stipulated date due to extenuating circumstances, I will secure another professional celebrant to officiate. The fee will be paid to me in full and I will reimburse the other celebrant. 

General note: Debbie Hunt Celebrant will arrive 40 minutes prior to your ceremony time to setup, do a sound check, talk to your DJ/Band regarding your entrance music and also welcome your guests.  At the conclusion of the ceremony Debbie Hunt Celebrant will stay for approximately 30 minutes so she can congratulate you both, mingle with your guests and get a photo with the happy couple.

Refund Policy:

My refund policy is in line with the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) of New Zealand.

Any amounts paid towards an invoice for my service are non-refundable if any of the following apply...

  • if you simply change your mind for any reason
  • in a circumstance of what is known as "an act of god". Example; an earthquake, tsunami or flooding that directly or indirectly affects the event.
  • in the event of a Notifiable Infectious Disease under the Health Act 1956 or the Biosecurity Act 1993.
  • Debbie Hunt Celebrant cannot be held accountable for severe inclement weather. Protection from personal injury and damage to my equipment is taken seriously

Celebrant PA System:

The use of my PA System is subject to favourable weather conditions and will not be used in any other circumstances where the unit may be exposed to harm by persons or the elements. Judgement to be made at the Celebrant’s sole discretion.

Where my PA system is used, if it is damaged through no fault of the Celebrant e.g. Microphone dropped by groom, bride or guest performing a reading, or through use of the Clients’/guests iPod/iPhone for music, the Clients will incur all associated costs involved in fixing or replacing the damaged item.

I undertake to use my best endeavours to ensure that the PA is fully charged, functional and tested prior to the ceremony. However, the Clients acknowledge that inanimate equipment may malfunction from time to time and should the PA fail at any time prior to, during or after the ceremony, through no fault of the Celebrant, the Celebrant will not be held responsible.

Ceremony Manuscript:

Your wedding ceremony manuscript and wedding vows are to be completed & confirmed with me 14 days prior to your wedding day or an additional fee of $150.00 will be incurred.

Celebrants Wedding Material:

My Personal creative writing content which I email you for ideas and suggestions is not to be shared with anyone unless prior approval is given directly from Debbie Hunt Celebrant.

Marriage License:

You apply for your marriage license on line at - https://marriages.services.govt.nz and they will email them to you.  Once you receive them forward to me and I will print and bring on your special day. Also tick that you would like to receive your marriage certificate, extra $33.00.  This is the legal document that banks will only accept and not the Notice of Intention of Marriage you sign on the wedding day.

Payment by you will be made directly with the court when lodging your application.

Inebriated clause:

Clients agree they will not arrive at the ceremony appearing to be inebriated or under the influence of any other substance. The Celebrant is not lawfully authorised to solemnise the marriage under these circumstances. Judgement as to inebriation of the Clients being under the influence of alcohol or any other substance is at the Celebrants sole discretion.

Lateness clause:

Please remember the flow on effect of being more than 5 minutes late for your ceremony as this can seriously spoil your day, don't plan your wedding around lateness. You will have guests standing in the hot sun or your celebrant may have a following commitment. (Please note that if you are more than 15 minutes late Debbie Hunt Celebrant reserves the right to leave and your fully paid fee is non-refundable)

Promotional clause:

The Celebrant may use photos from your ceremony and testimonials in promotional material, on her website, Facebook and Instagram pages.
